After making the decision that
I wanted to build a caterham my first task was to sell my
first caterham, and this I managed to do fairly easily via
the internet (see my online advert).
Once the car was sold it was
straight down to caterham to put my order in (see
the spec). The next
thing on the list was to sort out my garage. This
ended up being bigger job than expected, but I
now have a decent environment to work in. I estimate I
have spent around £250 at B&Q to get my garage in this
state.

The jobs I had to do to get my
garage included.

Several trips to the local
tip to get rid of rubbish that had accumulated over a
couple of years including items such as doors, old
shelving and bits of old wall units. |
 |
Once this was done I had
to clean the walls and then put 2 coats of white
masonry paint on. |
 |
The floor was next as
it was untreated I first had to put a layer of floor
sealer on and prior to that a good clean. Then
a layer of grey floor paint finished of the
painting. |
 |
The garage only had 1
dodgy bulb and fixing so this was a priority and
now there are 5 five foot strip lights and
additional switching. |
 |
With all the
electrics going on I also took the opportunity
to install a double socket at the front so I
would not have to run cables from the back to
the front. Much thanks to Andrew Winfer and Roy
Booth for sorting my electrics out. |
I wish I had taken a before
shot because the difference is vast, and I highly recommend
this as a first step. It also gives you something to
do whilst waiting for the kit to be delivered.
