FIA Bar

The choice of adding the FIA bar was one of the first things that made its way onto the specification list.  The choice was mainly based on safety, although Caterhams do not often roll (outside of racing) when they do the standard roll bar is not going to give you much protection and it will hurt.  Also hearing of other peoples experiences with standard bars in other 7 style cars this is something that all 7 owners should consider.

Secondly if ever want to enter any of the Lotus 7 Club of GB events (trackdays or sprints) then it is a mandatory requirement that Roll bars conform  to FIA specification.

I did consider getting the R500 roll bar but due to the above I did not, also a full cage was an idea I toyed with but for now I will stick with the FIA bar and use what is known as the petty strut on trackdays.  The 2 main problems with the cage being getting in, and also more metal for your head to hit in an accident.
