The choice of colour was at
first a simple one for me, I knew the colour I wanted
Marlboro Red. I had seen a couple of cars in this colour and
it satisfied my primary desire of having a loud colour.
However Caterham refused to paint it this
colour due to the fact that it was a day-glo scheme and they
had several problems of bad fading. At first I was a bit
pissed of at this, the customer being correct etc. But
Caterham where adamant that they would not do it. They
even gave me a contact at the sprayers for me to talk to,
and they confirmed that it did indeed fade. So I was left
with a choice I hadn't planned on and to be honest I wasn't
sure what colour to go for.
Eventually I got my choice down to a few
all of which can be described as being a little on the
load side. The reason for a bright paint scheme was
mainly from a make sure other road users can see me from a
long way off as well a wanting something a bit different.
My choices came down to:
Caterham Yellow, which is a great colour
that I like a lot, however this is a very common colour so
that ruled that out.

McLaren
Orange, again very popular and I almost went for this
colour. (Picture:

Kawasaki
green was another fantastic colour which I strongly
considered. (Picture:

In the end I discounted these colour schemes
as various local friends had already got cars in those
colours and I didn't want to copy. So when it came down to
the decision of colour I was left with 2 choices, both of
them lotus colours, both of them pearlescent Orange Chrome
and Manic Green (I think that was the name). the final
choice was the Orange Chrome, I saw an Exige at last years
motor show and remembered it as a top colour
