Specification

The car was ordered on 10th of February 2001 and started of as a superlight, the list of standard features plus the extras I added are listed below. The reason I added all the extra heavy parts such as windscreen and leather seats is that is is cheaper to start with a superlight and add the extras than it is to start with a standard car and add all the extras which can be expensive such as 6 speed box (+ £1500), supersport conversion (+£1000) etc. One thing for sure is that it cannot really be described as a superlight, although it wouldn't take much to get it back to a lighter car (i.e. remove windscreen, heater and leather seats)

Extras I wanted but didn't get
When I went to caterham I wanted a few extra bits and pieces which for one reason or another I didn't get.

22% steering rack - this was a matter of principle, caterham wanted me to pay an extra 60 quid yet in there parts catalogue it is the same price as the 8%, maybe an upgrade for the future.

Silcone water pipes - Caterham wanted 100 quid for this, yet the parts bought separately only cost 70, so I will buy some and keep the standards as extras.

Paint - I originally wanted Marlboro red, however Caterham refused on the grounds that it fades badly, which is fair enough. Interior Paint - for a while caterham produced superlights with black anodised interiors rather than un-coated aluminium, but was first told they had never done it, then on looking at one of the R500's for sale they changed to 'we don't do it anymore'.

Wheels - Wanted them painted black, but Caterham where having a dispute with their supplier so they could only get me silver ones.
