The Spokesman has been involved in building wire wheels for over 20 years

I can provide a wheel rebuilding service for virtually any car,
but especially those manufactured prior to the Fifties. Wheels that
have been rebuilt range from a 1906 Rover to "moderns" such as MGB's
and Jaguars. In between I have tackled all sorts of oddities in the UK,
such as Hupmobile, Chrysler, Delahaye, Delage and so on.

Overseas customers can easily be accommodated and I have had customers
from all over the world, including South Africa, USA and Europe.
There have also been the odd pre war trailer wire wheels and even aircraft
such as the Gypsy Moth - bet you didn't know that a lot of aircraft
had wire wheels.

Unfortunately I do draw the line at motorcycles, however as there are
still plenty of re-builders in that field. Check out my links page for
some web sites that may be able to help you.

As this is a part time occupation I limit myself to rebuilds and am unable
to supply new wheels or rims - with the exception of rims that fit Austin 7,
Morris Minor and MG M-types of the late twenties and early thirties.
However, if you wish to supply your own rims and hubs I am sure I will be
able to assemble them for you.

Spokes and nipples can be supplied in various sizes and gauges - usually
in 6 or 8 gauge. 7 gauge, used on many pre-war cars, are no longer
available, so 6 gauge will have to be substituted, unless I still have
them available in my large stocks. Often there are great discrepancies
in wheels off the same type of car or a large variety of wheels that fit
the same model - MG, Austin and Alvis etc readily come to mind. Unless
it is a very standard wheel it would be helpful for customers to supply
a sample of what is required - especially if you are not in the UK.

Butted and chrome or stainless spokes are also available. As these are
very expensive I keep minimal stocks - but am happy to get them in, if
required. If necessary it can be arranged to get your old chrome spokes
re-chromed. However as chroming these days is of varying quality I cannot
guarantee how good they will turn out to be. I am always happy to fit
any chrome spokes that you supply yourself.

Powder coating is also available, in a large range of colours, including
silver. This is conducted by an outside contractor, and details can be supplied
upon request
